Commodity Watch: Renewed demand in copper futures

New Delhi: Copper prices on Friday rose 1.29 per cent to Rs761.90 per kilogram in the futures market on the back of higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper contracts for delivery in March traded higher by Rs9.70 or 1.29 per cent at Rs761.90 per kg in a business turnover of 4,172 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to the raising of bets by participants.
Aluminium futures rise on fresh bets
Aluminium futures grew 0.47 per cent to Rs204.65 per kilogram as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. On MCX, aluminium contracts for March delivery increased 95 paise or 0.47 per cent to Rs204.65 per kg in a business turnover of 3,732 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.
